The Benefits of a lunch time walk
Now the weather has improved, a couple of us have ventured out from ecodek® Towers for a brisk lunchtime walk around Wrexham Industrial Estate.
Walking has huge health benefits as it helps boost your circulation and lowers the risk of high blood pressure. It also is a great way of getting more Vitamin D. As many as one in five people in the UK is vitamin D deficient, which is essential for important things such as bone health.
A brisk walk for 30 minutes can also boost your mood, promotes mental health and wellbeing as well as reduces midday slumps and mood changes.
I decided to walk more often as I thought I was sitting at my desk too much, so over the last couple of weeks, decided to walk as much as I could on my lunch break. Trainers at the ready literally!
We are quite lucky at ecodek® towers in that there are various routes you can choose to walk. On walking around the Industrial Estate, we have noticed that there’s some great wildlife around us, which is a lovely sight to witness especially in the Spring sunshine!
This video was filmed last week whilst walking on Clywedog Road. I describe it as a wildlife haven. Did you notice the birds singing in the background?
Let’s not forget that ecodek® works alongside the North Wales Wildlife Trust and their Living Landscapes Project helping to improve the habitat surrounding our factory. As a silver member, we are proud to support them.
I have found walking has actually improved my focus and have noticed that once I arrive back at my desk, I’m definitely feeling more refreshed, positive and productive.
Small bursts of activity during the day go a long way towards improving your health. So, why not make the most of the great outdoors and get walking? Get together with your work friends and make your walk fun. Don’t worry about your desk in the office as it will still be there when you get back.
If you’re going to give it go why not get prepared, track your steps and check out these pedometer watches on verywell.com.

Digressing slightly – last Saturday, the ecodek® team took time out for an evening of bowling and ended up dining at a local Turkish restaurant.
The bowling took place at Tenpin at Eagles Meadow, Wrexham. As always, there was lots of competition along with friendly banter.
The ten-pin bowling winners striking it lucky were our Production Manager, Rob Morgan scoring 140 points in the first game and Paul Williams, Warehouse Supervisor, who scored 146 points in the second game. Well done guys!
After the bowling everyone headed over the road for some authentic Turkish cuisine at the Turquoise Kitchen & Bar. Their lamb kebabs are delicious and are grilled on real charcoal flames.
Everyone had a great time and there were a couple of woozy heads at the end of the evening!
Have you been lunch time walking recently? What wildlife do you notice on your travels? If so, it would be great to hear from you. Leave us a comment in the comments field below.
