Covid 19 update 5th January 2021
With the announcement by the government of the New National Lockdown, the guidance states that the manufacturing and construction sectors may continue to operate.

We are, therefore, pleased to confirm that we will be continuing to operate as a business, with appropriate Covid safety measures in place during this period to support our customers and the wider industry supply chain.

The health and safety of our customers, suppliers and employees remains our top priority so we will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks, but at this stage we see no reason to change our manufacturing, distribution or service activities.

We encourage all staff, customers and suppliers to fully observe all recommended safe operating procedures and, in particular, the wearing of masks, social distancing and regular hand washing.

Children In Need – DIY SOS

Children In Need has been the BBC’s UK charity since 1980 and it has raised over £600 million.  The money raised goes towards supporting projects working with disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.   To date, Children in Need supports around 2,400 projects that are working with children facing a range of disadvantages.

We were contacted by the BBC’s DIY SOS team to see if we could supply material for the very ambitious Million Pound Build for this year’s Children in Need. Naturally we agreed without hesitation!

With only a day’s notice we were able to supply nearly 100m2 for the project, shipping it from North to South Wales (not exactly a direct route, either!).

By donating the ecodek® material we are delighted to have been able to support the wonderful work of The Roots Foundation – a volunteer led charity organisation based in Swansea.

The Roots Foundation Wales aims to support young people in care, care leavers, children in need and adults who have left care with the transition period of independent living. They offer advice and guidance on topics such as finance, cooking, health and employment.

The DIY SOS Million Pound Build for this year’s Children In Need was to transform the run down old hut into a haven.

The build took place in September, where an unbelievable 800 volunteers were on hand to make it happen, including a friend of Ecodek Towers and experienced installer, Ady from AC Services. The project was completed in 11 days!

Children In Need

The entire build was definitely challenging and the crew had to landscape a massive two and a half acres of grounds in appalling weather conditions.

If you missed DIY SOS Children in Need Special on Wednesday this week you can catch up with it now on BBC iPlayer.

DIY Decking

The fundraising continues today as we have been rising to the challenge to support this worthwhile cause. Our team of Ecodek bakers haven’t failed to disappoint with a huge variety of cakes produced – from chocolate brownies, mince pies to a chocolate and pear sponge cake. Truly scrumptious!

This year we have decided to hold a Guess the Baby Competition and some of the team have delved through the archives and have provided their baby photos plus a couple of celebrity baby photos mixed in.   The team will try to guess who the Ecodek babies are, all a bit of a giggle! The winner of the competition will win a £10 M&S Christmas Voucher.

A big thank you goes out to everyone donating funds for treats and also to those who made the cakes. There are still plenty of donations coming in – we will keep you posted as to how much we have raised.

If you will be getting involved in Children In Need today, we’d love to hear from you – Leave us a comment in the comments field below.
